Miami Rounds Out Coaching Staff With a Family Member
There doesn't appear to have been an official announcement, but Miami has added one more member to the RedHawks' football staff, per the athletics website: defensive intern John Pont. He's the grandson of a more well-known John Pont, one of the best football players in Miami history, who's most famous for coaching Indiana to the Hoosiers' only Rose Bowl appearance. The current Pont graduated from Miami in 2007, and has served as a graduate offensive assistant at Florida State under Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher, a wide receivers and tight ends coach at North Alabama under Terry Bowden, and as a member of the North Texas and Colorado State coaching staffs. And, to bring all these family ties together, he's married to Terry Bowden's daughter, Tera.
