Tyler Van Tubbergen is expected to start for now in Carder's stead.
The news was a mixed blessing for Western Michigan fans after a 37-17 loss to Toledo. Senior quarterback Alex Carder, who couldn't play due to an injured throwing hand, is going to miss a few more games, it looks like:

This means way more of Tyler VanTubbergen for the near future. He wasn't "bad" against Toledo — I specifically remember one of his interceptions the result of a receiver falling down — but he'll need to play better, especially with a newly-confident UMass coming to town.
