I missed this somber anniversary but Crimson Quarry put up a nice post about his time at Indiana, and what he could've been. We knew what he was in Miami, in 2003, when that unstoppable RedHawks team finished 13-1 and 10th in the AP Poll. Definitely one of the premier coaches in MAC history. As a weird postscript, the day he died, I was on a business trip in Bloomington, Indiana.
Thanks, Coach Hoeppner, for being a great coach, and for destroying my hopes and dreams as a BGSU football fan in 2003. It was worth it.
