Dan Roundfield won MAC Player of the Year in 1975, played in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks and is Central Michigan's all-time leader in rebounds. But tragically he perished off the coast of Aruba saving his wife who was swimming in some strong waves (which he did successfully) but he didn't make it ashore and drowned. He was 59.
Great basketball player, selfless human being. Most of us have the chance to be the latter, at least.
