The conference's Freshman of the Year drops in at No. 23 on our top players of 2013.

Back-to-back Floridian-native Western Michigan Broncos fall into place on our countdown, but as Johnnie Simon's career is coming to an end, Jaime Wilson's is just getting started.

It took Wilson no time at all to make an impact for Western. Out of Glades Central High School, Wilson stepped onto the field during his college debut against Illinois and hauled in eight receptions for 59 yards and his first career touchdown. That was just a sample. He would go on to set program records for receptions (67) and receiving yards (792), the first time a freshman had ever done that for the Broncos.

Wilson's ability doesn't just stop at catching passes. He was named Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America as a punt returner in 2012 with 204 yards, averaging 13.6 per return.

His breakout freshman season not only earned postseason recognition from FWAA, College Football News and Phil Steele, he was named Freshman of the Year in the Mid-American Conference. But in 2013, more will be expected of him.

Although Tyler Van Tubbergen started six games for the Broncos last year, with Alex Carder's graduation that era is officially over and Van Tubbergen can officially hold the reins of Western's offense. In his 11 games of action in 2012, Van Tubbergen completed 60.9% of his passes for 1,825 and 15 touchdowns. Expect him to continue to look to Wilson to be his biggest offensive contributor again this season.

Western returns three of their top four receivers from 2012 with Wilson leading the pack. The Broncos have their leading rusher, Dareyon Chance, returning for his senior season. After a 2-6 season, Wilson can be the spark that helps Western Michigan head back in the winning direction starting in 2013.

The Broncos open up their season in East Lansing on Aug. 30.
