According to reports from MLive.com, police are listing robbery as a possible motive behind the homicide of Eastern Michigan junior wide receiver Demarius Reed, 20, that occurred early Friday morning.
Reed's roommate found him dead, with multiple gunshot wounds, at approximately 7:15 a.m. in the hallway of their apartment complex located on the 700 block of West Clark Road in Ypsilanti, Mich.. Police announced Friday afternoon that a gunshot wound was believed to be the cause of Reed's death. An autopsy has been completed according to MLive.com, but Ypsilanti police said the medical examiner's report wouldn't be available for some time.
No suspects have been arrested yet in the ongoing joint investigation being conducted by the Ypsilanti police and the Eastern Michigan University campus police.
Reed, native of Chicago and a junior on the team, had caught 15 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown in six starts this season. He was the team's fourth leading receiver.
The Eagles' 1 p.m. home game vs. Ohio University is still scheduled to take place tomorrow at Rynearson Stadium.
