The AP and Coaches Polls for Week 10 were released Sunday afternoon and for the first time in a few weeks the Northern Illinois Huskies have experienced some decent movement.
After defeating the Eastern Michigan Eagles 59-20 on Saturday the Huskies jumped up two spots in the AP Poll to No. 21 ending two consecutive weeks of no movement. In the USA Today Coaches Poll NIU jumped up two spots as well, coming in at No. 20. Ball State received four votes in the AP Poll this week, putting them at No. 36 based off of the other teams receiving votes.
NIU won with style, which is a reason for the jump. With a game against UMass this week, the Huskies have an opportunity to record another lopsided victory which should aid in their ascension up the polls.
NIU's stiffest competition right now in the polls comes from Fresno State and a pair of AAC schools. The Bulldogs slipped a spot to 15 in the AP Poll, but are still two spots ahead at No. 18 despite not moving at all in the poll. Central Florida, a week after upsetting Louisville, is up two spots to No. 19, while Louisville is right behind the Knights at 20 in the AP Poll. In the Coaches Poll Louisville jumped up to No. 17, but Central Florida is two spots behind NIU at No. 22.
As usual the AP Poll has no bearing on the BCS Standings, which will be released Sunday night, but the Coaches Poll does.
