The UMass Minutemen have looked like they might just be one of the best two teams in the Atlantic 10 through two games and while much of that has to do with winning, their fast start has reflected in the conference's weekly awards. Chaz Williams earned the conference's second Player of the Week award on Monday after the first was won by teammate Cady Lalanne.
Williams averaged an impressive 21.5 points and 10 assists in the Minutemen's two games last week, both wins. Derek Kellogg's floor general scored 24 points with nine assists against LSU, then poured in 19 more with 11 assists in Sunday's win over Youngstown State.
|2013 - Chaz Williams||21.0||2.7||7.7|
Both teams have tournament aspirations and will look better on the tournament resume come march than losses would have, making this past week another productive one in the world of UMass basketball.
St. Joseph's DeAndre Bembry won the conference's Rookie of the Week award.
