Another night, another bunch of interesting match-ups in the MAC. All games are part of mini-tournaments, with two being hosted by MAC schools.
|Toledo||Detroit||4:30 p.m.||No TV|
|USC-Upstate||Kent State||7:00 p.m.||MACDN|
|Montana State||Central Michigan||7:00 p.m.||MACDN|
The Rockets take on a normally competitive Titans team that has struggled early on. Blowout losses at South Alabama and UConn were sort of surprising, and their only Division I win was over James Madison. Juwon Howard Jr., who you may remember at Western Michigan a couple of years ago, leads the Titans in scoring. Michigan transfer Carlton Brundidge has also been impressive, putting up 10.8 points per game. This is the first game of the 2k Sports subregional being played at Detroit.
Kent State hosts a Spartan team that beat Virginia Tech in the season opener but lost the next two to Winthrop and Tennessee. The last time these two met Kent State was soundly beaten in the first round of the College Insider tournament two years ago. USC-Upstate has three players that average more than thirty minutes per game in Torrey Craig, Ty Greene and Jodd Maxey. Craig is the leading scorer at 21.3 points per game and Greene is second with 17.7. This will probably be the best game of the night; make sure to fire up your laptops for this one. This is the second game of the Coaches vs. Cancer subregional hosted by Kent.
Central Michigan is also hosting a tournament, but it's not connected with a bigger tournament. The Chips take on Montana State, who have yet to win a game. They've lost to only California schools, so maybe facing a Michigan team will do the trick. The Bobcats are almost dead last in the country in rebounds, which is great news for John Simons. Only two guys score over ten points per game for the Bobcats, those being Paul Egwuonwu and Flavien Davis. This is one the Chips should probably win comfortably.
|Bowling Green||Marist||5:30 p.m.||No TV|
|Akron||Canisius||7:00 p.m.||No TV|
|Arkansas State||Kent State||8:00 p.m.||MACDN|
|Western Michigan||Tulsa||8:00 p.m.||No TV|
You'll only be able to watch the Kent State game, but that doesn't mean you can't follow along! Marist-Bowling Green would have been a really good match-up three years ago when both teams were dominant within their respective conferences. The Lady Red Foxes have lost the first three games of the year but won't lay down for Bowling Green. Canisius on the other hand is 3-1 and should give Akron a good challenge. Arkansas State is 2-1 and won their only road game this year. Tulsa is just 1-1 on the year and I don't know how Western Michigan is traveling down to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a basketball game.
