Rank | Rank (Pv) | Team | Record | What We Learned |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 1 | NIU | 11-0 (7-0) | The Huskies have looked fantastic over the past two weeks, beating the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in our power rankings by a comfortable margin. Now the only remaining obstacle to NIU's claim of utter MAC dominance is the MAC East champion, whoever that should be. |
2 | 2 | Ball State | 9-2 (5-1) | Bye-week. Nothing to see here. |
3 | 3 | Toledo | 7-4 (5-2) | Toledo hung with NIU for a little bit, but not nearly as long as Ball State. Clearly the Rockets are a great team, and the MAC West holds down the Top 3 spots for a reason. It's unlikely the Rockets play anyone as tough as NIU in a bowl game, so a 9-win season is very likely. |
5 | 5 | Bowling Green |
8-3 (6-1) |
WOW! The defensive performance Bowling Green put up Saturday is...I can't even come up with words for how amazing it was. I mean they held an FBS team to 65 total yards. Oh, and the offense, not wanting to be outdone, put up 58 points. Right now BG has to be the favorite for Friday's MAC East title game. |
5 | 5 | Buffalo | 8-3 (6-1) | Buffalo also had an impressive one-sided victory of its own, albeit over a much worse Miami team and in less impressive fashion. The Bulls are still a fantastic team, and will get a chance to show that this Friday vs. Bowling Green with a trip to Detroit on the line. |
6 | 6 | CMU |
5-6 (4-3) |
CMU wanted to get in on the blowout party itself. The Chips dominated UMass, and got one-step closer to bowl eligibility. I know CMU fans are frustrated with Dan Enos, but there's something to be said about how he coaches these teams down the stretch. |
7 | 8 | Akron | 4-7 (3-4) | Bye-week. Nothing to see here. |
8 | 9 |
Kent State
|
4-8 (3-5) | Tuesday night in Athens was the Kent State team we all expected to see this year. It just took until the final game of the year for us to see it. The Golden Flashes were clearly the better team in every facet. A fully healthy squad next season, even without Dri Archer and Roosevelt Nix, should make some noise. |
9 | 7 | Ohio |
6-5 (3-4) |
Ohio's lucky EMU managed just 65 yards, or it might find itself even lower than this. The fact is thee's no team in the MAC playing worse than Ohio is right now. Don't believe me? Check out the stats over the past few games, the numbers don't lie. |
10 | 10 | EMU |
2-9 (1-6) |
Stan Parish didn't go 2-0. Is it time to fire him and move on already? |
11 | 11 | WMU | 1-10 (1-6) | Bye-week. Nothing to see here. |
12 | 12 | UMass |
1-10 (1-6) |
Is the season over yet? The fans moved on to hockey and basketball a few weeks back. |
13 | 13 | Miami | 0-11 (0-7) | Ditto. |
