For the 7th straight week Fresno State sits atop the Mid-Major poll, and NIU is a close second.

For the seventh consecutive week Fresno State (10-0, 7-0 MWC) leads the Mid-Major College Football Top 10 Poll, narrowly beating out Northern Illinois once again.

The Bulldogs defeated New Mexico 69-28 on Saturday, but actually fell behind the Huskies in the latest BCS rankings slipping a spot to No. 16 thanks in large part to the computers love of NIU. But just as is the case in the BCS rankings where the humans favor Fresno State, it's the same in the Mid-Major Poll. The two are separated by a single vote still, as both remain undefeated and are vying for a possible BCS Bowl berth.

ECU and Ball State each stay put at No. 3 and No. 4 this week, but there's a new No. 5 after last week's No. 5, Boise State, fell to San Diego State 34-31 in overtime on Saturday. Louisiana-Lafayette has moved up three spots to take the Broncos place this week. The Ragin' Cajuns (9-2, 5-0) were off last week, but are one of just three teams in the poll to not lose in conference play. They're also the only Sun Belt representative once again.

Surprisingly, despite losing to Notre Dame 23-13 on Saturday, BYU (7-4) didn't slip at all, coming in at No. 6 for a second straight week, though the Cougars did receive less votes this week. It's only the second time this season that the team ranked No. 6 the previous week didn't drop out of the poll entirely on the following week.

Besides Boise, two other teams dropped out, both following losses. Toledo and North Texas fell from No. 7 and No. 9 respectively to just outside the Top 10 this week. Bowling Green moved up from No. 10 to No. 7 in their wake, and Marshall, Buffalo and Rice round out the Top 10.
