Ohio's Kadeem Green to transfer for a second time

Kadeem Green, a former Missouri Tiger, can now add Ohio to his list of former teams. - Jamie Squire

A little over one year after transferring to Ohio, the former Missouri Tiger has announced that he will once again transfer.

A little over a year after Kadeem Green transferred to Ohio University the 6-foot-8 forward is on the move again. According to CBS Sports' Jeff Goodman's 2013 transfer list the sophomore big man is transferring for the second time in his young career.

Green transferred to Ohio last spring, right before former head coach John Groce left for Illinois. He had to sit out the first half of the 2012-2013 season due to transfer regulations but finally took the court in December. Green saw limited time after becoming eligible, appearing in 12 games averaging 2.9 points in 5.3 minutes per game for the 'Cats. Green dealt with minor knee injuries and ankle problems during the season, missing 10 of the last 12 games of the season.

It was apparent that Green didn't fit first-year Ohio head coach Jim Christian's scheme which undoubtedly affected his playing time. With three new big men joining the team this off season, Green's opportunity's for playing time were all but gone.

It's a sad instance of deja vu for Green who transferred from Missouri halfway through the 2011-2012 season. a three-star recruit out of high school (he led his high school team to a north Carolina state championship his junior season, beating John Wall's team in the final), Green suffered an Achilles tear mid-way through his senior season shortly after committing to play for Mike Anderson's Missouri Tigers.

Recovering from major surgery to repair his Achilles, Green sat out the entire 2010-2011 season under Anderson with a medical redshirt. But Anderson left following that season to take the head coaching job with Arkansas and under new head coach Frank Haith, Green was left on the outside, not fitting in with the new style of play.

A skilled shot blocker with some post presence, Green is once again looking for a system he can fit in. A shy and reserved person by nature, Green told me earlier this season that part of the reason he chose Ohio was to be closer to his family in Toronto. It would seem only logical that the only schools Green would be interested in going to would be even closer but after changing teams twice in two seasons, one has to wonder what kind of options remain for him.
