USA Today ranks all 125 FBS programs

Over at USA Today, Paul Myerberg has been ranking all 125 of the FBS schools over the past two months. Just recently, he finished ranking all the MAC teams. What makes him a voice to look at when doing these rankings? Well for starters, he does work and write for USA Today (take that however you like). He did this for three years prior to his hiring on his now defunct website Pre-Snap Read. That's the place I actually went to before I found Hustle Belt and the reason why I actually discovered Hustle Belt as well due to his shoutout during one of these pre-season rankings. Paul also gives a great overview of each program going into the season covering everything from coaching, offense, defense, players, etc. This isn't a short paragraph that some non-AQ team might get elsewhere (like ESPN).

From his list, we are probably the most varied across the board conference this season which doesn't necessarily help our overall SOS. Still, there were plenty of teams that he noted that deserve a lot of respect and are major threats this season to most teams. So where did he have the MAC teams?

124 - UMass
120 - Akron
117 - EMU
103 - Miami (OH)
102 - Central Michigan
98 - Western Michigan
85 - Kent State
74 - Buffalo
52 - Bowling Green
46 - Ball State
44 - Toledo
39 - Ohio
21 - Northern Illinois

These are of course just pre-season rankings so should be taken with a grain of salt. Anything can happen very quickly in the course of a season from injuries to sheer dumb luck. What is everyone's thoughts on these rankings? I would suggest you give each article a read beforehand too before jumping to conclusions as well. After all, he does say that NIU's dream season is to go undefeated again and crash the BCS while the nightmare season would be to only win 6 games (that's including a loss to WMU so he knows the MAC is crazy with anything possible). I believe though that it is good to see that he does place close to half the MAC in the top half of the nation and really, I could see maybe four more jumping up as well.
