Miami Drops to Marshall 52-14

With Zac Dysert gone, the RedHawks started a new chapter, with a brutal loss. - Jamie Sabau

Well, that escalated quickly.

Miami entered Saturday's game the underdog, but by the end of the first quarter were up 7-0 over Marshall, thanks to an 8-yard touchdown by new-old starting quarterback Austin Boucher. The RedHawks defense slipped up in the second quarter, allowing two consecutive Thundering Herd touchdowns. Spencer Treadwell, one of more than eight players to carry the ball for Miami Saturday.

However, in the third quarter, things quickly went wrong for the RedHawks. Miami took a front row seat to the Rakeem Cato show, watching as he threw three TDs in the third quarter alone. Cato finished the game with five total TD's. But, Miami took home a moral victory by surprisingly keeping Cato under 300 yards.

Boucher went 10-for-22 in his first game as the clear cut starter since his four-game stretch three seasons ago. But, Saturday night it was clear that he was not Zac Dysert, as the RedHawks struggled to put anything substantial together against a defense that was among the nations worst in 2012.

On the opposite end of things, Miami's defense allowed 591 yards of offense, with more than half of that coming from a Marshall rushing attack led by sophomore Steward Butler.
