Arkansas State Wins GoDaddy Bowl, 23-20 Over Ball State

Arkansas State won a thrilling GoDaddy Bowl Sunday night, knocking off the Ball State Cardinals 23-20 in Mobile, Alabama.

Arkansas State sophomore Fredi Knighten, assuming full quarterbacking duties for an injured Adam Kennedy, led the Red Wolves on a 5 play 59 yard drive in 1:01 to take a 23-20 lead over the Cardinals with 32 seconds remaining.  The Cardinals managed to get the ball to the Arkansas State 21 yard line, but had a Scott Secor 38 yard field goal blocked as time expired.

Keith Wenning, Ball State's all time leading passer, finished the final game of his Ball State career completing 23 of 44 passes for 215 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.  Wenning's favorite target, Willie Snead, caught 9 passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.  Jahwan Edwards paced BSU on the ground, rushing for 146 yards on 28 carries.

Knighten did everything for the Red Wolves, throwing for 115 yards and rushing for another 97 on 19 carries.  ASU's J.D. McKissic caught 10 balls for 82 yards.  Allen Muse caught Knighten's game winning 13 yard touchdown pass.

The loss drops Ball State to 0-6 all time in bowl games.  Arkansas State won the GoDaddy bowl for the second consecutive year in their third all time appearance.
