EMU To Face Columbia In CIT Round 2

After downing Norfolk State in an exciting defensive battle (that almost no one bothered to watch) the EMU Eagles have advanced on to the second round of the 2014 CollegeInsider.com Tournament. This time out the Eagles are hitting the road (undoubtedly because of how miserable home attendance was) and will face Columbia University in Round 2. The game is scheduled for Saturday, March 22 at 7 p.m. inside Levien Gymnasium in New York City.

Because of the way the CIT is set up EMU will not know who it will face next (should it win) until Round 2 is completed.

The CIT Rap Just Killed Hip-Hop

I'm sitting here in press row of the first round CollegeInsider.com Tournament matchup between the Cleveland State Vikings and Ohio Bobcats in the Convocation Center in Athens, and I caught something blarring over the PA system.

"It's the C I T on C B S" a man raps over the rhythmical boom baps of a hip hop instrumental.

That's right, everyone's favorite 4th tier college basketball tournament has it's own rap song, and it goes hard.

It's called "To The Top" and it's by an artist named Rick Chyme, a guy with a Willie Nelson-beard.. You can listen to it here.

Hip-hop is dead.

373 People Went to EMU's CIT Game Tuesday Night

Today, for the first time in 16 years, the Eastern Michigan men's basketball team participated in a postseason tournament game beating Norfolk State 58-54 at home in the first round of the 2014 CollegeInsider.com Tournament. The win marked the Eagles first postseason victory in 18 years, and gave the team its 22nd victory, marking the best total since the 1995=1996 season.

So how many people were there to witness it? According to the official numbers, 373.

Less than 400 people showed up to witness a home postseason tournament game. Something that hasn't happened at the Convocation Center (for the men's team) since well before the average student was in middle school, let alone rooming the EMU campus.

The Eagles, which routinely rank among the bottom tier teams in the nation in attendance, averaged 901 fans per home game when factoring in tonight. 901 for a team that just won it's 22nd game. The Eagles are dead last in the MAC, and out of 350 plus Division I programs are probably in the bottom 20 in the nation. Well, EMU senior forward Glenn Bryant, who may have just played his last game every in the Convocation Center, has had enough.

Bryant took to Twitter after Tuesday night's win to share his frustrations with the lack of support from the fans:
