Kalonji Kashama is With The Detroit Lions

The former Eastern Michigan defensive end Kalonji Kashama signs with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent.

Kashama is the last of four brothers to play college football at the FBS-level and professionally. The other three, Alain (Michigan 1999-2003), Hakeem (UConn 1999-2003) and Fernand (Western Michigan 2004-'08) all played professionally in the Canadian Football League after college, making Kalonji the first to be with an NFL team, even though he was the 27th overall pick by Ottawa right before his final season at Eastern Michigan.

In three years at EMU, Kashama has played in 35 games, making 90 total tackles (16.5 for loss) and ten sacks. In 2013, Kashama led the team with nine tackles for loss for 49 yards, 10 QB hurries and a pair of forced fumbles.

Blankenship Signs With Jacksonville

Now I can confirm that former Ohio running back Beau Blankenship officially signs with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Big Cat Country, SB Nation's Jacksonville Jaguars blog, wrote a piece on Blankenship's signing, so it'd be polite if you just click on the hyperlinked text and give that a read.

Avery Cunningham signs with Rams

Former Central Michigan defensive back Avery Cunningham signs with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent.

Cunningham (6'0", 203 lbs.) started every game for the Chippewas in the past three seasons. He was third on the team with 76 tackles (49 solo), a pair of sacks and an interception in 2013. To round up his career, Cunningham had 294 tackles (164 solo), intercepted four passes for 77 yards, and piled up four sacks.

Beau Blankenship joins Jacksonville's mini camp

The former Ohio running back will be joining the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent.

Obviously, this doesn't mean that Blankenship actually signed as a UDFA. The language out there isn't clear enough for us to confirm that he's signed with the team, but this tweet is evidence enough to say that he'll be at the rookie minicamps this weekend.

Blankenship (5'9", 206 lbs.) ran for 910 yards on 204 carries with five touchdowns in 2013. He also had 15 catches for 62 yards, ending his 3-year career at Ohio with 2,976 rushing yards (4.9 yards per carry) and 263 receiving yards (6.7 yards per reception) with 25 total scores.

Blankenship transferred from Iowa State after his freshman year in 2009 where he ran the ball four times for 11 yards.

The MAC NFL Draft-Free Agent Big Board

The 2014 NFL draft is over, and eight MAC players in all were taken. More than twice as many have latched on with NFL teams as undrafted free agents. Here's your big board tracking it all.

Kent State CB darius Polk Signs With the Colts

Roosevelt Nix isn't the only former member of the Kent State defense to sign as an undrafted free agent this year. Former Golden Flashes cornerback Darius Polk inked a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

The 2013 second-team All-MAC corner was a key player in the Flashes secondary over the past two seasons, even earning the MAC Championship East MVP for his big game in a loss to NIU in 2012. He recorded 10 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and recovered a fumble in that game.

The 5-foot-11, 189 pound corner isn't exceptionally fast (4.52 40), but there's no denying he was an effective corner at Kent State. In two seasons as a starting corner he totaled 118 tackles, and six interceptions.

Polk joins a pair of former MAC running backs, CMU's Zurlon Tipton and Buffalo's Bo Oliver, in Indianapolis as undrafted free agent signings.

NIU's Joe Windsor Signs With the Cowboys

After taking a former NIU Huskie defensive lineman in the seventh round, the Dallas Cowboys signed another as an undrafted free agent. Former NIU defensive end Joe Windsor will join his former teammate Ken Bishop in Dallas.

The 6-foot, 241 pound edge rusher has been a key part of the Huskies defense for the past three seasons. In 2012, his first year as a starter,  Windsor recorded seven sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. This past season he earned third team All-MAC honors after totaling 37 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.

Miami's Austin Brown Signs With Houston Texans

Austin Brown anchored the Miami RedHawks defensive line for the past five seasons, and now he has a fighting chance at becoming a member of the Houston Texans defensive line rotation. After going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, Brown inked a deal with the Texans.

The 6-foot-2, 295 pound defensive tackle is a beast of a nose guard. He has 32 reps of 225 at his pro day, and totaled 167 tackles and 27.5 tackles for loss, and seven sacks for the 'Hawks in his career.

Brown got his start with Miami back in 2009 as a true freshman, and had a fantastic year, totaling 40 stops, and five for loss. He followed it up with a second team All-MAC performance in 2010 that saw him record a career high 53 tackles, and 10 for loss, along with a pair of forced fumbles. 2011 saw a slight decline in production from Brown,  before suffering a season ending injury in the second game of his true senior season in 2012.

Brown responded strong this past season, recording 37 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack and one blocked kick, despite playing on one of the worst defense in the nation. Brown gobbles up blocks and causes a bottleneck for the running game. He's not a threat as a pass rusher, but he can really make an impact in a team's rush defense. Despite going undrafted, it stands to reason he could find his way onto Houston's roster this fall.

UMass OT Anthony Dima Signs With Browns

As first reported from our pals over at Marroon Musket, the Cleveland Browns have signed former UMass BLANK Anthony Dima as an undrafted free agent

The 6-foot-6, 290 pound offensive tackle went undrafted after four seasons at UMass, but has potential to make an impact. A 2013 Outland Trophy Watch List member, Dima started at left tackle for the Minutemen for most of the past three seasons. While the team struggled to find success in that span, Dima was one of the lone bright spots and earned third team All-MAC selection in 2013.

Dima has a fantastic frame for an NFL tackle, but can use some bulking up to cross the 3000 pound plateau. He's not exceptionally fast, or agile, but he's a bull of tackle who benched 225 pounds 31 times  at his Pro Day.

Jarrod Pughsley signs with the Cowboys

Former Akron offensive lineman Jarrod Pughsley signs with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.

Pughsley (6'5", 313 lbs.) played in 35 games for Akron in his 4-year career as a Zip after being redshirted his first year on campus in 2009. In 2013, he helped the Akron offense to 122.6 rushing yards per game (9th in the conference) and 219.4 passing yards per game (6th). This came after being the conference leaders in the passing (312.8 yards per game) in 2012.

Tyler Beck signs with Patriots

Turns out, Alex Bayer wasn't the only tight end from Bowling Green on NFL scouts' radars.

Beck (6'2" 257 lbs.) played in 13 games for the 2013 MAC Championship team, catching 10 passes for 177 yards with a pair of touchdowns. In his four years at Bowling Green, Beck played in 47 games, totaling 25 receptions for 348 yards with three touchdowns.

Mycal Swaim signs with Tampa Bay

Former Eastern Michigan safety Mycal Swaim signs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.

Don't look too excited, Mycal. You're just a professional football player.

In 2013, Swaim (6'4", 212 lbs.) was second on the team with 81 tackles (36 solo) with one interception and 1.5 tackles for loss. He played in all 12 games for the Eagles after playing in only eight in 2012.

Swaim, from Chico, Calif., attended Butte College in Oroville, Calif. to begin his collegiate football career, helping his team to a 10-1 record in 2011. He was a unanimous all-conference and all-region safety as a sophomore with 64 tackles and seven interceptions before transferring to EMU.
