With many mock drafts expects picking a chance of the MAC going back to back number one picks with CMU lineman Eric Fisher going number one to the Kansas City Chiefs last year, this year Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack may be heading to Houston. (More likely to be a top five pick.) Toledo fans are wondering "Where our boys going to be drafted?"
David Fluellen a Toledo fan favorite is the best chance for Toledo to be represented May 8th- May 10th. The 5 foot 11, 224 pound Running Back became the first Toledo back ever to run for 100 yards and 100 receiving yards in the same game this past year. At Toledo, Fluellen had 3,336 rushing yards, and 4,082 all-purpose yards. Fluellen has above average hands coming out of the back field, and his skilled at picking up the blitz which will be a surprise to whatever team drafts him.
The last two years Fluellen missed a full game or most of a game nine times because of knee, ankle, or back injury caused him to miss time, which alone is a huge red flag for NFL scouts, and GMs. During the NFL Combine Fluellen ran a 4.72 forty time slower than most for the Running Backs coming out this year. Fluellen doesn’t have that "Extra gear" to get away from the pack and hit the homerun for a large touchdown.
All this being said David Fluellen I am projecting to be a late 5th round pick, or sometime in the 6th round. Fluellen if he stays healthy during his NFL career could be a solid back up back that could maybe slip into a staring lineup and have a year like Donald Brown with the Colts last year, and maybe cash in on a big paycheck like Brown did with San Diego. Hopefully Fluellen goes to a good coaching staff who knows how to uses and play with all the weapons they have in the back field.
