2016 Miami Football recruiting: DB Tay Gowan commits

+

The RedHawks landed their 14th commitment on Saturday afternoon from DB Tay Gowan.

Gowan currently attends Newton High School located in Covington, Georgia. He chose the RedHawks over a reported offer from Samford.

Shortly after his commitment, Hustle Belt caught up with Miami's most recent commit.

"I chose Miami of Ohio because they were the first school to believe in my talent. They believe I can be a 4 year started. And a lot of schools don't know who I am right now because I am underrated, but they will know soon. I believe in Miami Ohio and where the program is headed."

The 6-foot-3 175 pound defensive back seems to be a nice fit within Miami's defensive scheme.

"Miami Ohio plays a lot of press. And that's what I love to do. I feel like I can guard anybody's best WR."

Gowan is great in man to man coverage and pressuring wide receivers at the line of scrimmage, however dropping back into zone coverage is one thing that he acknowledges needs some work before he arrives in Oxford.
