P.J. Fleck wins dance-off during staff retreat

+

Over the weekend, Western Michigan's coaching staff went on a retreat to Chicago's House of Blues, where coaches engaged in a dance-off. To the surprise of no one, head coach P.J. Fleck made it to the finals against one of his graduate assistants and Fleck proved to be too #ELITE for the young man.

Dallas Cowboys have no idea where Darius Jackson went to school

1

As pointed out to me by @RobertHull124, the Dallas Cowboys screwed up big time with one of their draft picks. Their website currently says that Darius Jackson, a sixth round draft pick of theirs, went to Central Michigan.

I can confirm that he went to Eastern Michigan.

Kavon Frazier has his own rap track ahead of the NFL Draft

+

Kavon Frazier will most likely not get his name called tonight, but that didn't stop his cousin, who performs under the name PeezUKUH, from creating a rap track in his honor. Maybe the hype man can help bring Frazier some attention from scouts. Frazier, a hard hitting safety, is a projected Day Two pick, according to NFL.com, and has worked out with the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers recently, per CM Life. Careful where you play the track though, as there is some NSFW language.

EMU Board of Regents releases statement regarding football program

+

In what can be described as a short and sweet statement, interim president Donald Loppnow, President-elect James Smith, and the Board of Regents reiterated their decision to stay in the Mid-American Conference. This comes after a week of unflattering news coverage surrounding their football program, which culminated in a presentation from EMU faculty and student government on Friday to drop the status of football and move conferences in all other sports as "a moral imperative." Last week, AD Heather Lyke and other EMU officials made similar remarks to today's official statement. More on the story as it develops.

Eastern Michigan faculty and students: "Drop Division 1 football"

8

Calling the spending on college athletics at EMU "insane," members of the EMU faculty asked the Board of Regents to drop Division I athletics. Faculty representative Howard Bunsis told the board "Culturally and geographically, EMU football will simply never succeed from an attendance and financial standpoint," and that the call has nothing to do with current staff or players, who he calls good people. The student government also came out in support if the proposal, which calls for EMU to join the Horizon League in D-I basketball and D-II football. The report comes after HBO's "Real Sports" highlighted EMU's financial woes. EMU AD Heather Lyke and EMU administers released a statement last week pledging to stand behind EMU's Division I standing. EMU currently dedicates 8% of their overall budget to athletics. More updates will come as the news develops.

Langston Provitt retiring from football, set to transfer from Ohio

+

Langston Provitt, a cornerback with the Ohio Bobcats, is walking away from the game to live his life as a normal college student, citing future health reasons. Provitt was recently listed as having a "head injury" prior to spring ball. Provitt was a projected starter for Ohio in 2016, but felt it was time to leave the game. Provitt, a sophomore, will finish his semester at Ohio, then transfer to an institution in Florida, his home state. Provitt had 11 tackles, two pass breakups, an interception, and a forced fumble last season as a true freshman.

Central Michigan (kinda) ran a football play in the school library

+

Education first, entertainment second. The CMU football team had a different kind of study break earlier today, to say the least. As part of a promotional stunt to preview their upcoming spring game, Cooper Rush and his friends from the offense ran a draw play on the second floor of Park Library that certainly grabbed a few eyes from onlookers. Romello Ross looks like a beast through that gap, for what it's worth. The full video can be seen on Facebook. The Spring Game is this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Seth Collins nixes transfer to NIU, will switch from QB to WR at Oregon State

1

In a surprise turn of events, Oregon State quarterback Seth Collins has turned on his commitment to transfer to NIU to play QB and will instead remain at OSU as a receiver. Collins, a scrambler, was expected to be a great fit at QB for the Huskies offense after Drew Hare left. Collins would have had to sit for a year to transfer. Collins had even gone as far as to sign a (non-binding) financial aid slip with NIU before making an appearance at spring practices in Corvallis, OR as a receiver. In the article, Collins' family and NIU coaches could not be reached for comment. It's an unexpected blow for NIU football fans everywhere.
