Kent State continue to make a strong push to prove they're not only the best team in the MAC East, but the best team in the conference.

Game One: Kent State wins 4-3

The Huskies led 3-1 entering the seventh, but the Golden Flashes rallied in the bottom half of the inning with run-scoring hits from Sawyer Polen and and Jon Wilson to tie it up at three a piece. Alex Miklos was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded to bring in the game-winning run.

Eric Lauer, who struggled in his last two starts, was back to normal against the Huskies. In six innings of work, he allowed only two runs off of four hits with seven strikeouts.

Game Two: Northern Illinois wins 6-5

Northern Illinois bounced back to pick up a game two victory 6-5. Eli Anderson (3-5) tossed a complete game while striking out 11 in the win for NIU. Eric Dorsch (1-2) picked up the loss for the Flashes. The game was filled with drama. We saw an inside the park home run and a play at the plate to end the game. Brandon Mallder had the inside the park homer, and also had a three run bomb in this one.

Game Three: Kent State wins 8-2

The Huskies seemed to exhaust all of their energy in games one and two as they never seemed to have life in this one. Brian Sisler collected two hits, and Justin Fletcher collected the only two rbi for the Huskies. Brian Clark (5-6) picked up the win. Clark allowed one run, and struck out seven in the win. The loss was picked up by Alex Klonowski. Klonowksi allowed five runs (only one earned) in five innings of work. He struck out four and allowed six hits. Cody Koch(2-4) was the only player to collect multiple hits for the Golden Flashes. Two errors did in the Huskies and helped Kent State claim yet another MAC conference victory.

Kent State University will travel to Muncie for a 1st place showdown with the Ball State Cardinals. Each team is in 1st place in its respective division. For the Northern Illinois Huskies a series looms with the Akron Zips at home.
