Nebraska-Omaha 77, Northern Illinois 64

Stay connected for news and updates

Two years in Division I ... and two wins over Northern Illinois. That's pretty good efficiency!

NIU was only down a point at halftime but that's when UNO got busy. When the dust settled, two Huskies were in double figures: Aksel Bolin had 11 points and freshman Daveon Balls scored 10. They had the edge rebounding 34-28 but committed too many turnovers, 23 to UNO's 18.

It should also be noted that this was UNO's first game in brand new Ralston Arena. New stadiums are always fun! So if Northern Illinois did anything, it was letting the Mavericks have their day and celebrate it with a victory. Probably wasn't their goal, but hey. When life hands you lemons.
