Akron 62, Princeton 58

Stay connected for news and updates

While other MAC teams were having trouble dispatching non-Division I teams, Akron struggled with but won a close game against a worthy opponent: Princeton has been trouble for just about everybody this year. Zeke Marshall had another terrific offensive game, even if the rebounds and blocks weren't there: 7-for-7 from the floor for 17 points. Nick Harney also provided some interior presence to finish with 16.

But more symbolically, this win was big in that it was Keith Dambrot's 300th as a collegiate head coach, if you include his time at Tiffin and Ashland, which ... why wouldn't you? If you include his three years coaching LeBron James in high school, he's actually at 369. Eight more wins — which should happen this year — and Dambrot will be at 200 for his career at Akron.

The Zips wrap up nonconference games on Wednesday against Coppin State.
