It wasn't easy, but they got it done. A game after beating Boston College, Toledo took a punch from the Rattlers before ultimately winning out in the end 79-69.
The Rattlers started off the game on an 8-2 run and held the lead for a good portion of the first half. The momentum really turned in the Rockets' favor when right before the half Rian Pearson hit a buzzer-beating three to go into halftime up two. Toledo really never looked back, and finally pulled away with a 14-5 run in the mid-second half. The lead got as high as 15, but after some sloppy play the Rattlers cut it back to single digits with a minute left.
Julius Brown was the star of this one, putting up 18 points and 11 assists. Rian Pearson matched Brown in points, and Justin Drummond was not far behind with 16. J.D. Weatherspoon only picked up seven points, but led the team with nine boards.
Toledo heads up to Detroit on Friday to take part in the 2k Sports Classic subregional. They'll face Stony Brook Friday, Detroit Saturday and Florida Atlantic on Sunday.
