It was the 100th meeting of Xavier and Miami, and the Musketeers played like they were more than familiar with the visiting RedHawks. Xavier pulled out a 77-51 victory over Miami.
Four different Musketeers scored in double figures, and another finished with nine points. Dee Davis led all scorers with 15 points and poured in three three-point buckets. Semaj Christon added an additional 13 points with eight dimes. James Barr added a double-double, with both 11 points and rebounds.
The Musketeer bigs made the difference in the game, as they helped to outpace their opponent in boards, 42-25. Miami last led in the contest with 10:12 remaining in the first half, when they went up 18-17 following a Will Sullivan trey. Xavier responded on the next possession when Dee Davis knocked down one of his 3-pointers to put the Musketeers back up two, with a lead they would not relinquish.
Miami is now 0-3 and next plays host to Wilmington College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
