Toledo Point Guard Josh Lemons Expected to Transfer

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Toledo's roster received a little shakeup over the weekend.

The dust from the commitment of 2014 prep point guard Kamau Stokes to Toledo more than a week ago seems to have finally settled. As originally reported by WTOL's Jordan Strack, sophomore point guard Josh Lemons is transferring from the Rockets. The school has yet to release a statement.

Stokes' commitment meant there was likely someone who would need to lose a scholarship, seeing as UT had received more commitments than it had graduating seniors. Lemons decision to leave frees up that spot.

Lemons redshirted this season after averaging 14 minutes per game the year before as a true freshman. In 2012-2013 the Cincinnati native played in 27 games for Tod Kowalczyk's Rockets as Julius Brown's back up. Brown, an all-MAC first team point guard, will be a senior next season and with the highly touted Stokes coming in, it created a crowded backcourt.

A defense-focused guard out of La Salle High School, Lemons had offers from Southeast Louisiana and Morehead State before signing to be a member of Toledo's 2012 recruiting class. It's unknown at this time where Lemons plans to go and if either of those two schools would be interested in accepting the transfer.
