2015 Toledo Football Recruiting: OT Brandon Heidecker Talks Commitment to Rockets

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

Brandon Heidecker is strong, athletic, and quick with his feet. With some development he should shine for the Rockets.

Offensive tackle Brandon Heidecker, from Columbia Station, Ohio, is the fourth commitment of the Toledo Rockets 2015 class. The Rockets consistently pluck some of the best-undervalued talent from within their own state and Heidecker should be no different.

"My commitment to the Rockets is very solid. It was my No.1 school choice" Heidecker told Hustle Belt. When asked what about Toledo made him want to commit to the Rockets over offers from Akron and Bowling Green with no hesitation he added, "the bond I had with the coaching staff stood out immediately ... I loved the interaction with the coaching staff, we really hit it off right away."

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive lineman is a solid grab for a Rockets program that is really looking to revamp in the trenches. Five of their 10 official verbal commitments so far have been offensive linemen.

Rated a 2-star offensive linemen by 247Sports, Heidecker emphasized multiple times how important his education was in his choice of college. When asked about some of his goals as a Rocket Heidecker stated, "Education comes first, then football ... I'm looking to be the best I can both educationally, and athletically while focusing to win a MAC Championship."

Heidecker will bring with him toughness as well as great athleticism. He helped lead Columbia Station High School to a 10-1 record this past year. Heidecker is also a Division V Northeast Lakes All-District player. You can see how Heidecker maintains the block, and finishes with authority on every play. Coach Matt Campbell and crew have found themselves yet another hidden gem within the state.

Heidecker has the agility, footwork, focus, and drive to be a successful Rocket and MAC player. With continued development, and grooming at the next level Heidecker will fight for playing time early and should eventually anchor the offensive line at some point in his career.
