A nifty screen pass from Matt Schilz to Shaun Joplin was the lone score of the first quarter. Joplin ran 16 yards, slaloming between some downfield blocks for the six.
Some of the UMass secondary made some big stops to prevent this game from being broken open. But UMass has been getting nothing on offense, totaling 16 yards and punting on four straight 3-and-outs.
