Ohio Escapes UMass With A 37-34 Win

Stay connected for news and updates

A win is a win ... unless it's this kind of win. UMass had a 27-20 lead going into the fourth quarter until OHIO's wrecking ball of a tailback Beau Blankenship broke through for a couple more touchdowns. Blankenship ran over 40 times for over 270 yards and two touchdowns, just wearing down the Minutemen.

UMass was called for a taunting penalty on Alan Williams flipping into the end zone on a touchdown, but it didn't hurt them as they got the ball back and almost marched into field goal range before Mike Wegzyn's 4th and 10 pass was batted down. But Wegzyn had four passing touchdowns, so it's cool.

OHIO is now 5-0, while UMass scored 34 points in as season where they had 35 total. Lots of questions on defense, suddenly, for Frank Solich's Bobcats.
