The Western Michigan Broncos (1-9, 1-5) come into this game holding the best record in the MAC for overtime losses to Eastern Michigan. The Broncos also have put in an inspired and spirited performance in a 27-23 home loss to FCS stalwart Nichols State. Broncos' head coach P. J. Fleck has announced that Dean Martin's Aint that a Kick in the Head will be the Broncos' theme song for Saturday's big rivalry game. The Western Michigan University Athletic Department has announced the #BeatCMU Campaign in hopes of finding enough players willing to put on brown and gold uniforms and play on Saturday.
Central Michigan (3-6, 2-3) fans have plenty to be fearful of going into Saturday's big match up with the hated Broncos. Head coach Dan Enos has announced that Jackson Browne's Doctor my Eyes will be the Chippewas' theme song for Saturday's grudgefest in Kalamazoo. The Chippewas' three humiliating blowout losses on national TV lead the nation in that category.
The Broncos' Zach Terrell has been playing well lately, and the team is hungry for revenge after last week's loss. Plus, WMU has a 2-game winning streak going in the 84-year old series that should add extra motivation for Fleck's young squad. The Broncos' defense isn't very good, but Cooper rush has been prone to turnovers. Despite WMU being -11 in turnover margin, CMU doesn't fare too much better at -6.
For the Chippewas the key will come down to executing the gameplan they pulled off at the end of the Ball State game last Wednesday. Let Saylor Lavallii and the newly returned Zurlon Tipton pound the vulnerable WMU' defensive line to open things up for Rush to raid the secondary.
If CMU can prevent causing it's own turnovers, and force Zach Terrell, it should be able to take the Victory Cannon back to Mt. Pleasant.
