It's really cold in Ypsilanti. 28 degrees at kickoff and if Miami University is counting the attendance, there are about 10,000 (but really it's closer to 600 if we round up), fans suffering through the cold weather and sideways snow patterns.
But, hey, that's football weather for you.
The Bowling Green Falcons are on an offensive terror led by Matt Johnson and Ronnie Moore. Johnson is 9-for-16 in the air for 222 yards with three touchdowns and an early interception. Moore was the receiver for all three touchdowns for 74, 22, and 34 yards. He has five receptions for a total of 147 yards.
Travis Greene dropped an easy touchdown pass, but is still having a good day thusfar. Rushing the ball 11 times, he picked up 93 yards, including a 28-yard score.
Conversely, Eastern Michigan's offense is playing very poorly from top to bottom. After going 1-for-9 with a terribly awkward interception lofted into the hands of BG's Ryland Ward, Tyler Benz's number was called to take the field for the first time since their loss to Toledo. Even then, Benz has been unable to complete a pass in his three attempts. Quincy Jones has the team's only reception in the first half, and it was only good for four yards.
The EMU rushing attack has been subpar at best. Between Ryan Brumfield and Bronson Hill, they have a combined 30 rushing yards off of 10 carries.
Despite 34 points scored against, Eastern Michigan's defense is their only real highlight. The bright spots include Sean Kurtz's 10-yard pick six and the four sacks on Johnson by Derric Williams (1.5), Pat O'Connor (1.0), Cy Maughmer (1.0) and Kalonji Kashama (0.5).
