Whatever competitiveness that existed in this game during the first quarter completely evaporated in the second. Bowling Green's defense forced a turnover in Miami territory, a turnover on downs and a punt while their offense was moving basically at will. BGSU put up 17 points in the second quarter. The two touchdowns were scored by William Houston on a 2-yard run and then by Alex Bayer on a pass from Matt Johnson.
The Falcons have outgained Miami 269-133, and over two-thirds of Miami's yards were in the first quarter. The primary difference is in the running game, where BGSU holds a 113-14 edge in yards.
Matt Johnson is 14/18 for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Travis Greene has carried eight times for 59 yards. Receptions have been spread out rather evenly -- Alex Bayer has three (40 yards), Heath Jackson has four (38) and Ryan Burbrink has three (37).
For Miami, Drew Kummer is 7/13 for 83 yards, while Austin Gearing has completed all five attempts for 36 yards. Gearing has five carries for 15 yards. Alvonta Jenkins leads with 41 yards on two receptions.
