Ball State scored a convincing victory Wednesday night, a week ahead of their showdown with Northern Illinois, knocking off Central Michigan 44-24 in Muncie.
The Cardinals easily handled the Chippewas, running up 549 yards of total offense. Keith Wenning continued his impressive senior season, completing 20 of 29 passes for 299 yards and 4 touchdowns. Wenning hooked up with Willie Snead for two of those scores. Snead caught 9 passes for 118 yards. Horactio Banks paced the Cards on the ground, carrying the ball 11 times for 143 yards and a touchdown. Jamill Smith and Jordan Williams each caught a touchdown for the Cardinals. Ball State did not punt in the game and did not commit a turnover.
Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush completed 20 of 32 passes for 284 yards and a touchdown. He was intercepted once. Titus Davis led the Chippewas in receiving, catching 9 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. Central Michigan struggled to run the ball, carrying 27 times for 113 yards. CMU turned the ball over three times and committed 6 penalties totaling 65 yards.
Ball State is back in action next Wednesday against Northern Illinois. Central Michigan travels to Western Michigan on November 16th.
