The UMass Minutemen (0-6, 0-2 MAC) head to Kent, Ohio to take the Kent State Golden Flashes (0-5, 0-2 MAC) as both teams are desperate to get in the 2014 win column.
Mark Whipple's Minutemen are coming off a disappointing showing versus Miami, allowing the RedHawks to win their first game since 2012. After scoring 41 points in the first half to take a 41-14 lead, the UMass defense allowed Miami to score 28 straight points to drop the game, 42-41. Quarterback Blake Frohnapfel has thrown for 1860 yards with 15 touchdowns on the season, including a 550-plus yard outing versus MAC champion Bowling Green.
Kent State hasn't had much go right for them this season as well as they sit at 0-5. The few high points on the season have came in their only two MAC games, losing both 17-14 to Ohio in week one and to NIU last week. The Flashes defense was able to hold one of MAC's best offenses to only 17 points, but they still fell short, losing the game on an interception while driving on the Huskies. QB Colin Reardon threw for 244 yards on 20-of-36 passing in the loss to Northern Illinois.
This is the first ever meeting between the two programs.
