This has not been a good week for EMU basketball. First, leading scorer Miranda Tate was dismissed from the team for violation of team rules, and it was finally announced leading rebounder and second-leading scorer Olivia Fouty, who has missed the last month, would be out for the year after knee surgery.
Against the Ramblers it was a scoring by committee effort, and they rebounded tremendously, but a defensive breakdown allowed Loyola to shoot 46 percent from the field, 41 percent from three. Desyree Thomas guided the offense with four points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Sara Stone led the Eagles with 15 points and eight rebounds; Taylor Bird and India Hairston both contributed 11 points and nine rebounds.
EMU stumbles down to 2-11, not what they had in mind entering the season, and Tory Verdi's ladies will open MAC play next Thursday at WMU.
