Toledo's "Steel Curtain" defense ends Bowling Green's 23-game home winning streak

Toledo's "Steel Curtain" defense held star Lauren Prochaska to 11 points in a 66-65 upset that snapped Bowling Green's 23-game home winning streak.

Prochaska continues "all-out assault" on the record books

Earlier today, BGSU senior Lauren Prochaska shot 8-8 from the free throw line, setting a new MAC record by hitting her 61st consecutive free throw. Her game-high 21 points marks the 100th time in 111 games that she has scored double digits. We here at Swish Appeal have seen her a combined three games this season and we're becoming fans. Here's why: Last Friday in a 56-47 win over UALR, Prochaska was cold from the field but shot 15-for-15 from the free throw line to help her finish with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. In the next game against Seattle University, she was again cold from the field but played the passing lanes like a defensive back and finished with a number of deflections, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. And on Wednesday in a 79-68 upset over #23 Vanderbilt, she dropped 31 points on 8-16 shooting, 10-10 free throw shooting, 5-9 from the three point line, and 6 assist to 0 turnovers. She's helped her team win from the line, from the three point line, as a distributor and as a defender. She's not just the scorer she's reputed for being - she's a well-rounded player who has found a way to make positive things happen even when she's not taking a lot of shots. And that's impressive. Or rather, we're impressed.

Seattle U Tournament: BGSU Defensive Effort Earns Them Championship & Three All-Tournament Selections

After beating the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday night, Bowling Green State University can probably expect to move up in the next CollegeInsider Women's Mid-Major Top 25 rankings. Although the opportunity to showcase mid-major basketball in the early season match up was valuable, that kind of rankings stuff doesn't matter much to BGSU coach Curt Miler.

Seattle U Thanksgiving Tournament: BGSU Overcomes Cold Shooting To Beat UALR In Major Mid-Major Battle

While you can't really call a player like Bowling Green State University's Tracy Pontius a "supporting cast member" - as though she isn't a talented player in her own right - she made huge plays when her team needed them to help beat the University of Arkansas - Little Rock in the first game of the Seattle U Thanksgiving Tournament.
