The Bowling Green Falcons play Tuesday night on ESPN3 in a game that will have a huge impact on the MAC East landscape. If the Falcons win, they still have a chance of knocking off Buffalo and earning a trip to Detroit. If they lose, their fate is out of their hands.
So in honor of the big matchup, the Bowling Green athletic department put together a hype video of sorts, a normal practice these days. The video features highlights from the team's 45-3 dismantling of Miami on national TV this past Tuesday. It's full of big hits, fantastic runs, and lots of praise by the play-by-play crew from that ESPNU broadcast. There's also soundbites of a pre-game speech from head coach Dave Clawson interspersed throughout.
But, while the idea behind the video in itself isn't odd, the execution is. Set to the tone of "Now We Are Free" by Gavin Greenway and the Lyndhurst Orchestra, this hype video takes on a weird religious experience type feeling. Rather than hyping me up, it made me want to go out and do good things for others. Not sure that's the goal of a hype-video, but at least it's entertaining.
