Previous Evening MAC Review: Grizzballed

Last night's MAC basketball games:

Oakland 78, OHIO 66 — So much for the magic of last year's NCAA tournament. T'was a big win for the Golden Grizzlies and the Summit League, and they controlled the game for basically the last 35 minutes, using a 17-0 run to build a small fortress around their lead. The Bobcats could only get the deficit down to 7 before The School That Can Be Called OU kept sinking free throws (27-for-35 on the night) and got the lead back up to over 20. All this, despite OHIO grabbing 22 offensive boards. Wasn't to be.

Not like they didn't try (to shoot threes!). Tommy Freeman gave it his dadgum best effort, sharpshooting for 22 (6-for-12 on threes) while D.J Cooper had a wild stat night: 18 points, eight assists, and seven steals/blocks/turnovers. Seven steals? Hey, that's nothing. Cooper did that twice last year, although the school single-game record is nine. Keep pickpocketing. OHIO's next game: Sunday, 11/21 vs. Texas A&M Corpus Christi

Bowling Green 81, Ohio Dominican 55 — Sure, whatever. The score looks nice, but for a while ODU had a lead until 3:16 left in the first half. (Jakubowski 3:16?) And then it turned into the score it was supposed to be. Division I basketball is just better than D-II, I suppose. Take that! Bowling Green's next game: Thursday, 11/18 at Michigan

We'll analyze the overnight scores later today. Stoopid TV marathon.
