Hustle Belt MAC Player of the...Week? Alex Gillett

I guess I owe cmadler and any other Eastern Michigan fans an apology for my earlier comments about Alex Gillett and the passing game never being responsible for an Eagles win this season.

In his last two games (last Saturday's near-miss against Ball State and today against Buffalo) Gillett 22 of 32 passes for 430 yards and eight touchdowns, plus another 37 carries for 215 yards rushing. He has been passing just enough to keep defenses honest and been very efficient at it, thus earning this week's honors.

We'll see if he can keep this up, since both Ball State and Buffalo's defenses are garbage, especially against the run, but Ron English has to be happy with these last two performances.

Beau Blankenship (OHIO) - 25 carries for 129 yards and two touchdowns, doing all of Ohio's scoring in the fourth quarter to put CMU away for good.

Chris Coyer (Temple) - 10 of 19 for 92 yards and one touchdown passing, 16 carries for 97 yards and one touchdown rushing. Looks like Addazio has found the guy who should have been playing quarterback all along.

Nick Harwell (Miami) 15 catches for 229 yards and two touchdowns, Harwell now has 84 catches for 1353 yards despite missing Miami's opener and getting completely shut out against Kent.

Kamar Jorden (BG) posted eight catches for 152 yards and two scores, now has 616 recieving yards and 5 TDs in the last five games.

Chandler Harnish (NIU) 16 of 26 for 294 yards and two touchdowns passing, plus 17 carries for 151 yards and one score rushing.

The WMU-Toledo game, all lumped together. Alex Carder (38 of 59 for 548 yards and 7 TDs), Jordan White (16 catches for 238 yards and 3 TD), Adonis Thomas and Morgan Williams (40 carries for 292 yards and 4 TD)

Branden Oliver (Buffalo) 18 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns

Trayion Durham (Kent) 27 carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns
