Yeah, we figured as much. Although I might've thought they'd have been available through Friday, every one of the 7,300 tickets available have been sold out for Saturday's Women's National Invitation Tournament against USC. This took seven hours, and people were in line for over five hours overnight to grab some seats.
There are a few hundred tickets left allotted for students, which is nice, but unfortunately this doesn't help anybody who had to work on Thursday and didn't get a chance to wait in line for tickets, or even make a phone call.
So naturally this means that you're going to see outrageously marked up tickets for a WNIT game, right?
The last time I remember tickets at a Savage Arena game going for ridiculous prices was when LeBron James was in high school and was playing a state regional tournament game in Toledo. That was probably the last time.
I looked online to see if anything crazy was being offered, but so far no dice. Regular tickets were $10, and courtside seats were $15. A few people on Craigslist are offering pairs for $40 total. High rollers, people.
Here's a game you can play: guess what the highest offering will be for a single ticket. Is fifty bucks too much to ask? For as big a deal as Rockets fans are making it, you'd have to think somebody would spend $50 for this game. At least. Because this is huge, even if it's a consolation championship. It's freakin' USC, man. And it's a 64-team tournament. Scalp hard, T-Town.
In the meantime, the game will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports and can be heard online at WCWA-AM.
