ESPN is all about previews, and college football is no exception. Now that preseason is winding down, how about another list?
College football writer Bruce Feldman has released his list of the "best of a bad lot," so to speak. He created a starting lineup, offense and defense, made up purely of players from teams that he feels will finish this upcoming season with a losing record.
In truly shocking fashion, (only?) two players from the MAC made their way onto the list - on the defensive side, of course. Follow along after the jump for yet another preseason backhanded compliment for the Mid-American Conference:
DL: Roosevelt Nix, Kent State Golden Flashes
A former standout prep wrestler, the 6-0, 240-pound Nix more than measured up in his rookie season, becoming the first freshman to be named MAC Defensive Player of the Year after piling up 20 TFLs. He also forced four fumbles in the first five games.
S: Sean Baker, Ball State Cardinals
The 6-1, 204-pound safety is a magnet for the football. He has 16 career INTs, has forced five fumbles and returned two fumbles for TDs. Those numbers are even more impressive when you consider Baker has played for three head coaches and four defensive coordinators.
So yay! We have MAC players on a preseason list...of who will play great for a crappy team. I think that Feldman picked a couple of winners, but did he pick the best? Use the poll and comments to weigh in with your own vote.
