A MAC Soccer Brag: Akron, BGSU Win At Big Ten Schools

Yes, there was Tuesday night MAC football, just not that kind. But it was a glorious pair of games against the Big Ten, both on the road.

Akron beat Ohio State 1-0 because, duh. We don't mention soccer much around here but the Zips, ranked second, went eight straight games with allowing a single goal. (West Virginia put one in on them Saturday.) Reinaldo Brenes scored his MAC-leading ninth goal of the season while David Meves got back on track with a four-save shutout.

Simultaneously in Ann Arbor, BGSU, having a decent but not great season, beat Michigan 2-0 for their second straight win over the Wolverines. Anthony Grant and Ryan James provided goals within three minutes of one another in the second half and Michael Wiest tended the goal, recording five saves.

Score another one for the MAC over the Big Ten. Ungh!
