Also, Alex Gillett began quarterbacking the Eagles in the second half, and nobody's entirely sure why. Tyler Benz looked OK on the sidelines and the decision looked good as Gillett scrambled 50 yards for a touchdown to open the third quarter, but that 11-point lead was whittled away by the Chippewas. Zurlon Tipton ran for a score, Kavon Frazier ran back a pick-six and Andrew Flory caught his second TD of the game to give the Chips a 10-point lead.
Gillett finished with some gaudy numbers: 14 carries, 163 yards and two touchdowns. But the passing, not so good: 6-for-16, 71 yards, TD, INT.
Tipton ran 21 times for 109 yards and Flory finished with 9 catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Radcliff was an efficient 20-for-34 for 287 yards, two touchdowns and zero sacks or interceptions. Another testament to that O-Line.
CMU can still become bowl eligible as they improve to 4-6, and the hurtin' continues for the Eagles, who drop to 1-9.
