Well, that was a long and occasionally exciting day of MAC football. Here are the highlights and top box score lines from the day:
Dalton Williams: 27-for-54, 313 yards, 5 TD, INT
Marquelo Suel: 7 catches, 99 yards, 2 TD
John Griggs: 8 tackles, 5 solo, 2 sacks
Quick line: You wanted to see something better out of Akron. Going to a solid FIU program and taking them to overtime is a good start.
Horactio Banks: 7 carries, 120 yards, 2 TD
Scott Kovanda: 5 punts, 50.2 average, 56 long
Travis Freeman: 14 tackles, 6 solo, 1 TFL
Quick line: They didn't have a chance but they did run the ball extremely well. It wasn't just "Quake" either. Banks pulled off some big runs and well now he needs a natural disaster name. Rhett suggests "Typhoon." Let's go with it.
Anthon Samuel: 14 carries, 71 yards, 2 TD / 3 catches, 11 yards
Shaun Joplin: 7 catches, 117 ayrds
Chris Jones: 5 tackles / 2.5 TFL / 1.5 sacks
Quick line: The dumpiest offensive game of the night, but BGSU held pretty on defense and had a wacky tip interception which I hope to GIF tomorrow.
Alex Zordich: 16-for-21, 237 yards, 4 TD, INT
Branden Oliver: 25 carries, 238 yards, 2 TD
Alex Neutz: 8 catches, 154 yards, 4 TD
Khalil Mack: 8 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks
Quick line: UB broke a single-game record for most points as an FBS team. The offense looks wonderful. The defense ... enh.
Zurlon Tipton: 11 carries, 63 yards; 1 catch, 5 yards
Titus Davis: 6 catches, 54 yards
Jason Wilson: 6 tackles, 55-yard INT TD, pass breakup
Quick line: Welp, Mount Pleasant got their in-state party. They do not have an in-state team, though.
Garrett Hoskins: 2 catches, 41 yards, TD
Alex Bellfy: 3 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack
Colin Weingrad: 8 tackles, 1 INT, 1 QB hit
Quick line: I stand by what I said here.
Trayion Durham: 16 carries, 87 yards, TD; 4 catches, 26 yards
Dri Archer: 8 carries, 78 yards, TD; 4 catches, 29 yards
Luke Wollet: 13 tackles, 7 solo
Quick line: Another Kent State game, another embarrassing play forever GIF'd. Aside from that, Archer is breaking out into a neat season. And I told you, UK fans. Nothing to worry about!
Mike Wegzyn: 18-for-26, 161 yards; 7 carries, 37 yards, TD
Michel Marken: 5 catches, 73 yards
Darren Thellen: 11 tackles, 9 solo, INT, pass breakup
Quick line: Well, they got their first points out of the way. But they still have quite a journey to put together a good game.
Pat Hinkel: 11 tackles, 2 INT, return TD, 2 pass breakups
Spencer Treadwell: 16 carries, 73 yards, TD
Zac Dysert: 28-for-36, 226 yards, TD; 9 carries, 17 yards
Andy Cruse: 12 catches, 60 yards, TD
Quick line: Just a nice steady game in which they eventually pulled away. And they didn't lose to the Missouri Valley, which is suddenly an accomplishment.
Jordan Lynch: 19-for-25, 214 yards, TD, INT; 11 carries, 60 yards, 3 TD
Leighton Settle: 21 carries, 106 yards; 1 catch, -3 yards
Jimmie Ward: 10 tackles, 2 pass breakups, INT
Quick line: Much like the Miami game, NIU just kind of kept going at it. Great game from Lynch, especially passing. Still need to see more of that.
Beau Blankenship: 27 carries, 168 yards, 2 TD
Tyler Tettleton: 15-for-23, 257 yards, 2 TD; 7 carries, 18 yards, TD
Donte Foster: 5 catches, 57 yards, TD
Quick line: Built a huge lead and got comfortable. They wore down a weaker team and they broke a home attendance record. Will they start getting ranked yet?
Terrance Owens: 25-for-41, 300 yards, 4 TD; 14 carries, 74 yards
Bernard Reedy: 6 catches, 111 yards, 2 TD
David Fluellen: 22 carries, 109 yards; 5 catches, 37 yards
Dan Molls: 13 tackles, 10 solo
Elijah Jones: 2 tackles, 2 TFL, INT
Quick line: The greatest finish of the entire set of games and we didn't get to watch it unfold. UW had a couple key injuries on offense, and Austin Dantin was completely AWOL. Didn't even get in the game!
Alex Carder: 29-for-40, 364 yards, 5 TD, INT; 3 carries, 11 yards
Jaime Wilson: 11 catches, 154 yards, 2 TD; 3 punt returns, 104 yards, long 48
Blake Hammond: 6 catches, 94 yards, 2 TD
Deauntay Legrier: 5 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 2 sacks
Donald Celiscar: 6 tackles, 0.5 TFL, 5 pass breakups
Quick line: Nice to see WMU hack away at some of the offense cobwebs.
