Northern Illinois defeats Central Michigan 38-17

Jordan Lynch capped a 300 plus yard rushing day with three touchdowns as Northern Illinois imposed its will over CMU in the second half in defeating Central Michigan, Lynch set the Kelly/Shorts Stadium record for all purpose yards leading his team to a dominating performance over the Chippewas.

Turnovers and penalties plagued CMU, which stayed with NIU late into the fourth quarter. With CMU down 24-17 midway through the fourth quarter, the Chippewas faced a key third and seven near midfield. NIU used a strategic time out to contemplate the situation. A hard pass rush resulted in CMU quarterback Cooper Rush being sacked. That was as far as CMU would get the rest of the way.

Jordan Lynch scored on a five yard run on the ensuing drive for NIU. Lynch's final TD of the day iced the game for the Huskies. Cameron Stingily capped of the scoring with a late 19 yard touchdown run to finish the scoring.

Lynch's performance overshadowed a game effort by CMU that was hampered by a key fumble by CMU deep in NIU territory and an interception that led to an NIU first half touchdown. However, it was a great day for Lynch and the Huskies as they remain undefeated and improve their overall record to 7-0 and 3-0 in MAC play.
