The thunder and lightning at Yager Stadium delayed the CMU-Miami contest for almost an hour. The weather has provided most of the fireproof in the first half.
CMU has been outplayed by Miami, but managed to hold on to a 7-3 lead courtesy of a 16 yard you touchdown run by Saylor Lavallii following a 54 yard punt return by Titus Davis.
Miami got off to a 3-0 lead on a 40 yard field goal by Kaleb Patterson with 4:28 left in the first quarter. After that, Miami has moved the ball consistently, but has been plagued by penalties and missed opportunities in the form of incomplete passes to open receivers and a missed field goal attempt by Patterson that was wide right from 36 yards.
Miami backup quarterback Austin Gearing provided the highlight of the game with Miami's longest play from scrimmage this year, a beautiful 48 yard run.
Miami has outgained CMU 184-80.
