Ball State Takes Down Virginia 48-27

Cardinals take advantage of Cavalier penalties, turnovers en route to convincing victory

The Ball State University Fighting Cardinals defeated the Virginia Cavaliers 48-27 in front of 38,000 fans in Charlottesville on Saturday.



Keith Wenning completed 23 of 41 passes for 346 yards and two touchdowns and Jahwan Edwards rushed 24 times for 155 yards to lead a Cardinal offense that racked up 506 total yards of total offense,  Leading receiver Willie Snead caught 6 balls for 104 yards and a touchdown and Jordan Williams had a career day, catching 9 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown.

Virginia quarterback David Watford completed 21 of 36 passes for 209 yards for the Cavaliers.  Watford also rushed 11 times for 47 yards and a score.  With the game out of reach in the fourth, Virginia freshman Greyson Lambert took over under center for the Cavs.  Lambert completed 1 pass for 14 yards.  Kevin Park paced the UVA rushing game, carrying 16 times for 104 yards and two scores.

The Cavaliers were penalized 13 times for 93 yards.  UVA also turned the ball over 4 times which the Cardinals turned into 17 points.

The victory marked the 4th win for Ball State over a BCS school in the last three years.

Ball State is back in action Saturday, October 12th at home against Kent State.
