With three games remaining, Ron English has been fired, and has been relieved of all coaching responsibilities.
Leading the Eagles to a 1-8 season this year, English's overall record was 11-46 (7-30 Mid-American Conference), including a loss to FCS school Illinois State last year.
Offensive coordinator Stan Parrish will take over the head coaching duties, but I have not heard anything about the vacant defensive coordinator role.
In an official statement by Eastern Michigan University, athletic director Heather Lyke said:
"At this time, I have decided that a change int he leadership of our football team is necessary. Eastern Michigan University's commitment to our student-athletes remains of the utmost importance as we move forward with the rest of this season and is selecting the new leader of our program."
You can read the rest of the statement here.
The Eagles play tomorrow at 1pm against in-state rival Western Michigan University (1-8, 1-4 MAC).
