Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl Update: ECU Leads At Halftime 17-14

Ohio responded in the second quarter to the ECU assault, slowing the Pirates' offense down. Ohio came up with two big stops on fourth downs in the first half against a team that has converted 12 times on fourth down this season. ECU finally went with its kicker Warren Harvey for a 4-yard field goal with a minute left in the half.

Ohio pulled a couple nifty plays out of its playbook in the quarter as well. A double reverse pass to Daz Patterson netted the Bobcats 26 yards and a few players later, Tettleton swung a pass out to Patterson in the flats. Patterson picked up a couple blocks from wide receivers and scored easily to bring the game within one score at 14-7.

After another Ohio stop, Derrius Vick stepped in at quarterback. Vick faked running a speed option out of the pistol, stepped back and launched an 80-yard bomb to Dante Foster to knot things up at 14.

Ohio passed for 168 yards and totaled 223. East Carolina scored 17 points even with 365 yards in the first 30 minutes of play.

Shane Carden totaled 199 yards through the air while Vintavious Cooper gashed the Ohio defense for 104 yards on the ground on 13 carries.
