A hard played and surprisingly defensive second half results in a __ East Carolina
Ohio hit a field goal early in the fourth, and on the ensuing kickoff, kicker Josiah Yazdani popped up an onside kick. The perfectly executed kick landed in the arms of Devin Bass. Ohio did not go on to score on the drive, as Josiah Yazdani, who had previously been perfect on the year on 14 field goal kicks, missed wide left on a 45-yard attempt.
East Carolina responded by picking up their struggling offense with a couple penalties and a 31-yard Vintavious Cooper romp to the house.
After an Ohio three-and-out, ECU responded with a 47-yard drive on six plays. A double pass went to Shane Carden, who out leaped two defenders for the score, putting the Pirates up 31-20.
Tyler Tettleton was picked multiple times in the fourth quarter and threw three picks on the day.
ECU, which came into the game ranked 107th in the nation in rushing, ran for 198 yards on 25 attempts in addition to the 273 yards Carden had. He added a late touchdown to ice things. The Pirates put together 568 yards on the day, surprisingly not too much more than the 435 Ohio picked up.
281 of those yards came on the ground for ECU compared to 107 for Ohio.
